How To Connect Yo-Yo’s Into A Square
Yo-Yo’s are just crochet circles.  To the left is a series of yo-yo’s that increase in size.  No more stitches or rounds were added, they get their changing sizes from the stitch used to make them: 1st on the left is Single Crochet, next to it Half Double Crochet, next to it Double Crochet and last Treble Crochet.
The yo-yo I used in my sample was made with Double Crochet:
With yarn and H hook ch-4, sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Chain-3 (counts as 1st dc), work 15 dc in ring, sl st top beg ch-3, turn.  (16 sts)

I used 16 stitches because it is so easily divide by 4 to give me 4 stitches to each side if you can imagine it more like a square.
You begin with 2 yo-yo’s that are the same size.  You are now going to join them together.  I will be using white yarn because if the contrast, you can use any color.
