& Caterpillar Costume
Free Crochet Pattern

Materials: 2-3 oz Red Heart worsted weight yarn in Paddy Green, 1-2 oz Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Royal Blue, Delft Blue and Light Blue, Size H crochet hook, Needle to take yarn, Two 1” Wiggle Eyes, Two ½” Wiggle Eyes, 3 Red & 3 Yellow Chenille Stems, One 1” Red pom-pom, Two Yellow & One Red ½” pom-poms, Two Yellow ¼” pom-poms, Two 1/8” Yellow pom-poms, Craft glue, Small amount of stuffing, 6 (2 costume, 1 hat & 3 top) Small snaps, Sewing needle and Sewing thread.
Gauge: 5 hdc sts = 1-1/2”, 3 rows hdc = 1”, appliqué is 3-1/2” long; toy is 6” tall not including antenna.
Finished Size: Will fit 12-13-inch Baby Doll
Costume:
RND 1: With Green and H hook ch-51, sl st to form a ring, ch-1, turn, hdc ea ch around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.  (50 sts)
RND 2-16: Hdc ea st around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.
RND 17: (Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc next 8 sts) around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.  (45 sts)
ROW 18-17: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.  You are now working in rows.
ROW 20: Hdc next 5 sts, (hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc next 3 sts) across, ch-1, turn.  (38 sts)
ROW 21-22: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.
ROW 23: Hdc next 8 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, ch-1, turn.  (8 sts)
ROW 24: Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.  (7 sts)
ROW 25: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.
ROW 26: Hdc next 2 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, ch-1, turn.  (2 sts)
ROW 27-28: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.  End row 28 fasten off.
ROW 29: With Green and H hook join in end row 22, ch-1, hdc same st as beg ch-1, hdc next 7 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, ch-1, turn.  (8 sts)
