MATERIALS:
Dog: Lion Suede yarn in Print, Lion brand Fun Fur in Champagne, 4 ply yarn in Brown, DMC size 5 Pearl Cotton in White and Blue, size J, H, 7 & O (zero) hook or hook to obtain gauge, small amount of cardboard, 5 size 1\0 snaps, needle and invisible (clear) sewing thread. Fleas & such: Size 10 crochet thread in Black, White, Yellow, Green, Blue, chenille stems, small amount of stuffing, Fun Fur yarn in Red & Orange, one toothpick, Black & White fabric paint.
GAUGE: Suede: 4 hdc sts = 1-1\2”, 3 rows hdc = 1-1\2”. Thread: 9 hdc sts = 1”, 6 rows hdc = 1”
FINISHED SIZE: Dog Body Closed: 6” X 11”. Dog Body Open: 11” X 11”. Flea: 3-1\2” tall.
DOG BODY:
ROW 1: With Suede and J hook ch-28, hdc 3 rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (26 sts)
ROW 2-19: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.
RND 20: Hdc ea st and end of row around working 3 hdc in corners, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (112 sts)
RND 21-23: Hdc ea st around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. End rnd 23 fasten off.
Sew snaps around dog at rnd 23 so that when closed (folded in half) rnd 21-23 folds under rnd 21-23 other side.
LEG:
Holding one strand Print Suede and one strand Champagne Fun Fur and H hook ch-4, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Ch-1, work 8 hdc in ring, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (8 sts)
RND 2-3: (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (12 sts)(18 sts)
RND 4-6: Hdc ea st around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.
Cut a small piece of cardboard to fit in bottom of foot and place inside leg.
RND 7: (Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc next 4 sts) around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (15 sts)
RND 8-9: Hdc ea st around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.
RND 10: (Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc next 3 sts) around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (12 sts)
RND 11-12: Hdc ea st around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. End rnd 12 fasten off.
-make 4. Fold rnd 12 tog to lay flat. Sew closed. Sew 2 legs to ea side of dog along folded edge.
HEAD:
With Suede and J hook ch-3, sl st to from a ring.
RND 1: Ch-1, work 8 hdc in ring, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (8 sts)
