MATERIALS: Homespun yarn in Prairie & Sierra (one skein will make hat, scarf and purse) small amount in Antique (reddish color), Brown and Yellow, size K hook or hook to obtain gauge needle and invisible (clear) sewing thread.
GAUGE: 3 hdc = 1”, 5 rows hdc = 2”
FINISHED SIZE: Will fit most adults
HAT:
With Sierra and K hook ch-3, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Work 4 hdc in ring, drop Sierra, join Prairie, hdc 4 times in ring, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (8 sts)
RND 2: (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) twice, drop Prairie, pick up Sierra, rep bet () twice, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (12 sts)
RND 3: (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) 3 times, drop Sierra, pick up Prairie, rep bet () 3 times, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (18 sts)
RND 4: (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) 4 times, hdc next st, drop Prairie, pick up Sierra, rep bet () 4 times, hdc last st, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (26 sts)
RND 5: (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) 5 times, hdc next st, drop Sierra, pick up Prairie, rep bet () 5 times, hdc last st, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (38 sts)
RND 6: (2 hdc next st, hdc next 2 sts) 6 times, hdc next st, drop Prairie, pick up Sierra, rep bet () 6 times, hdc last st, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (50 sts)
RND 7: Hdc next 25 sts, drop Sierra, pick up Prairie, hdc next 25 sts, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.
RND 8: (2 hdc next st, hdc next 4 sts) 5 times, drop Prairie, pick up Sierra, rep bet () 5 times, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (60 sts)
RND 9: Hdc next 30 sts, drop Sierra, pick up Prairie, hdc next 30 sts, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.
RND 10: Hdc next 30 sts, drop Prairie, pick up Sierra, hdc next 30 sts, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.
RND 11-17: Rep rnd 9-10. End rnd 17 fasten off.
LEAF:
With Antique and K hook ch-9, sc 2 nd ch from hook, sc next 2 ch, (dc, trc) next, (trc, dc) next, sc next 2, (dc, 2 trc, dc) last ch, turn piece so you are now working across the bottom of the foundation ch (in bottom of sts just made) sc next 2, (dc, trc) next, (trc, dc) next, sc last 3, fasten off. -make 4.
ACORN:
ROW 1: With Yellow and K hook ch-2, work 3 sc in 2 nd ch from hook, ch-1, turn. (3 sts)
ROW 2: 2 sc 1st st, sc next st, 2 sc last st, join Brown, fasten off Yellow, ch-1, turn. (5 sts)
ROW 3: Sc 1st st, hdc next, 2 dc next, hdc next, sc last st, fasten off. (6 sts)
-make 3. Using needle and invisible thread sew leaves and acorns to hat.
