ROW 19: Rep row 17, fasten off.
Using face as a pattern cut a piece of cardboard to fit bottom chin portion of face.  Place face on hat, using needle and yarn sew to hat inserting cardboard as you sew.  You may want to sew across the top of the chin-brim part of the hat to keep the cardboard from sliding up.
OUTER EAR (MAKE 2):
ROW 1: With dark yarn and hook ch-6, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn.  (4 sts)
ROW 2-3: 3 hdc 1st st, hdc ea st across to last st, 3 hdc last st, ch-1, turn.  (8 sts)(12 sts)
ROW 4-6: Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc ea st across to last 2 sts, hdc dec last 2 sts, ch-1, turn.  (10 sts)(8 sts)(6 sts)
RND 7: Evenly sc ea st and row around working 2 sc in ea corner or turn in ear, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.
INNER EAR (MAKE 2):
ROW 1: With light yarn and hook ch-5, sc 2nd ch from hook, dc next ch, sc next, dc last ch, ch-1, turn.  (4 sts)
ROW 2: (sc, dc) next 2 sts, sc next, dc last st, ch-1, turn.  (6 sts)
ROW 3: (sc, dc) next 2 sts, (sc next st, dc next st) twice, ch-1, turn.  (8 sts)
ROW 4: (Sc next st, dc next st) across, ch-1, turn.
ROW 5: Dc dec next 2 sts, (sc next st, dc next st) twice, sc next, sl st last st, fasten off.
FINISHING THE HAT:
Sew the inner ear to the outer ear and then to side of hat.  Using patterns as a guide cut out eyes and nose from felt and glue in place.  Cut a thing strip of felt (1\4” X 6” for adult & 1\4” X 3-1\2” for child) and glue in place for the mouth trimming ends if needed.
