Pop Tab Owl Free Crochet Pattern

MATERIALS:
2-3 oz TLC Essentials yarn in Dark Brown (2368), 1-2 oz in Sandstone (2327), Taupe (2335) and small amount of Black (2112), size H crochet hook or hook to obtain gauge, stuffing (craft fiberfill), needle to take yarn, craft glue, small amount of Yellow and Orange felt, White fabric paint and 36 pop tabs.
Gauge: 4 hdc = 1”, 3 rows hdc = 1-1\2”
Finished Size: 10” tall X 9” at widest point
PLEASE NOTE SPECIAL STITCHES: 2 PTSC = 2 Pop Tab Sc. To work one you make a normal sc, but before finishing the stitch and while you have 2 lps on your hook, you slide two pop tabs onto the hook, pull through, yo and finish the stitch.
EYE:
You will need 18 pop tabs for ea eye you make.
With Black and H hook ch-5, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: (2PTSC) 9 times in ring, sl st top beg sc, fasten off. (18 pop tabs and 9 sts)
RND 2: With Black and H hook join around top opening any pop tab, ch-1, sc top same pop tab, (ch-1, sc top next pop tab) around, ending with ch-1, sl st top beg sc, fasten off. (18 sts)
-Make 2. If you want, you can add dots of white fabric paint to ea eye for highlights.
BODY:
ROW 1: With Dk Brown and H hook ch-18, hdc 3 rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (16 sts)
ROW 2: 2 hdc 1st st, hdc ea st across to last st, 2 hdc last st, ch-1, turn. (18 sts)
ROW 3: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.
ROW 4: Rep row 2. (20 sts)
ROW 5: Rep row 3.
ROW 6: Rep row 2. (22 sts)
ROW 7: Rep row 3.
ROW 8: Rep row 2. (24 sts)
ROW 9-16: Rep row 3.
ROW 17: Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc ea st across to last 2 sts, hdc dec last 2 sts, ch-1, turn. (22 sts)
