MATERIALS: 1 skein ea color Red Heart 4 ply yarn in Aran and Medium Purple, Lion Brand Suede yarn in Coffee, size H hook or hook to obtain gauge, needle to take 4 ply yarn, large single snap, sewing needle and invisible (clear) sewing thread.
GAUGE: Suede: 3 hdc = 1”, 2 rows hdc = 1”; 4 ply : 5 hdc = 1-1\2”, 3 rows hdc = 1”
FINISHED SIZE: Across top of purse 10”, across bottom: 13”. 10” tall and 3” deep.
PURSE FRONT:
Please note: dropped yarn is carried behind sts as you work them. In the first two rows of instructions I will write out the dropping and picking up of colors, but due its tedious nature row 3-48 with only state the color of yarn to work what stitches in.
ROW 1: With Aran yarn and H hook ch-45, hdc 3 rd ch from hook, hdc next 14 ch, drop Aran, join Purple, hdc next 13, drop Purple, pick up Aran, hdc last 15 ch, turn. (43 sts)
ROW 2: (Ch-4, sl st next st) 15 times, drop Aran, pick up Purple, rep bet () 13 times, drop Purple, pick up Aran, rep bet () 15 times, ch-1, turn.
ROW 3: Aran hdc next 14 sts, Purple next 7, Aran next st, Purple next 7, Aran last 14 sts, turn.
ROW 4: (Ch-4, sl st next st) dropping and picking up colors as established.
ROW 5: Aran hdc 13 sts, Purple hdc 7, Aran hdc 3, Purple hdc 7, Aran hdc last 13 sts, turn.
ROW 6: Rep row 4.
ROW 7: Aran hdc 12 sts, Purple hdc 7, Aran hdc 5, Purple 7, Aran hdc last 12 sts, turn.
ROW 8: Rep row 4.
ROW 9: Aran hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc next 9, Purple hdc 7, Aran hdc 3, Purple hdc next st, Aran hdc next 3, Aran hdc next 9, hdc dec last 2 sts, turn. (41 sts)
