Pink Hearts Afghan Free Crochet Pattern

MATERIALS:
3-5 oz skein Bernat Softee Baby yarn in Pale Pink and 4-5 oz skeins in White, size F hook or hook to obtain gauge.
FINISHED SIZE: 40” X 41”
Gauge: 5 sc = 1”, 5 rows sc =1 ”, 5 Fpdc\Bpdc = 1”, 3 rows Fpdc\Bpdc = 1”, 4 hdc sts = 1”, 3 rows hdc = 1”
AFGHAN:
SPECIAL STITCHES: The stitches used to make the raised sts are Front Post dc or Fpdc and Back Post dc or Bpdc. This is a dc worked around the previous row’s st instead of in the top of the sts as normally done. In the Fpdc you are working the st by inserting your hook from the front of the piece, behind the previously worked st and then back through to the front, yo and work as established for dc. Bpdc is the same but instead of inserting your hook from the front of the piece you insert it from the back of the piece and then around the previously worked dc and then back through the back, yo and finish working normal dc.
You will be alternating two colors as you work. Due to the special Fpdc and Bpdc you will not be able to work the white yarn behind the sts as you crochet. Simply drop the white, make the raised sts, pick the white back up carefully running it behind the worked sts and continue working. When working the background you can work the pink yarn behind your sts picking up and dropping as indicated.
ROW 1: With F hook and White yarn ch-160, sc in 2 nd ch from hook, sc in ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (159 sts)
ROW 2-4: Sc ea st across, ch-1, turn.
ROW 5: Sc next 11 sts, * join pink, drop white, Fpdc next st, drop pink, pick up white, sc next 16 sts, rep from * 8 times, sc last 11, ch-1, turn.
Please note, from now on the ins will not state pick up or dropping of yarns: Sc = white and Fpdc\Bpdc = pink.
ROW 6: Sc next 10 sts, * Bpdc next 3, sc next 14, rep from * 8 times, Bpdc next 3, sc next 10, ch-1, turn.
ROW 7: Sc next 9 sts, * Fpdc next 5, sc next 12, rep from * 8 times, Fpdc next 5, sc next 9, ch-1, turn.
ROW 8: Sc next 8 sts, * Bpdc next 7, sc next 10, rep from * 8 times, Bpdc next 7, sc next 8, ch-1, turn.
ROW 9: Sc next 7 sts, * Fpdc next 9, sc next 8, rep from * 8 times, Fpdc next 9, sc next 7, ch-1, turn.
