Reindeer Placemat Free Crochet Pattern

You can put two together and stuff resulting in a pretty pillow. They also can be appliqué on a plain bought tree shirt or a simple one cut of felt.
MATERIALS: Red Heart 4 ply yarn in Warm Brown (8 oz skein made 3 place mats), Buff, Aran, Cherry Red, Black and Brown, G crochet hook or hook needed to obtain gauge, needle to take yarn
FINISHED SIZE: 10 1\2” diameter (without ears and antlers)
Gauge: 4 dc sts = 1”, 2 rows dc = 1”, 4 sc sts = 1”, 4 rows sc = 1”
HEAD:
With Warm brown yarn and G hook ch-4, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Ch-1 work 12 dc in ring, sl st top beg dc, ch-1, turn. (12 sts)
RND 2: 2 dc ea st around, sl st top beg dc, ch-1, turn. (24 sts)
RND 3-4: (2 dc next st, dc next st) around, sl st top beg dc, ch-1, turn. (36 sts)(54 sts)
RND 5: (2 dc next st, dc next 2 sts) around, sl st top beg dc, ch-1, turn. (72 sts)
RND 6: (2 dc next st, dc next 3 sts) around, sl st top beg dc, ch-1, turn. (90 sts)
RND 7: Dc ea st around, sl st top beg dc, ch-1, turn.
RND 8: (2 dc next st, dc next 8 sts) around, sl st top beg dc, ch-1, turn. (100 sts)
RND 9: Dc next 4 sts, (2 dc next st, dc next 7 sts) around, sl st top beg dc, ch-1, turn. (112 sts)
RND 10: (2 dc next st, dc next 7 sts) around, sl st top beg dc, fasten off. (126 sts)
NOSE:
Rep rnd 1-2 of head in Cherry Red or Black.
EYE (MAKE TWO):
ROW 1: With black and G hook ch-7, sc 2 nd ch from hook, sc next 3 ch, hdc next ch, 2 dc next st, turn piece so you are now working the bottom of the foundation ch, hdc next ch, sc next 4 ch, join Aran, fasten off black, ch-1, turn. (12 sts)
ROW 2: Sc next 3 sts, hdc next st, 2 dc next 4 sts, hdc next st, sc next 3 sts, fasten off. (16 sts)
EAR (MAKE TWO):
ROW 1: Rep row 1 of eye in Buff.
ROW 2: Rep row 2 of eye in Warm brown, do not fasten off.
ROW 3: Sc next 4 sts, hdc next st, 2 dc next 2 sts, (dc, trc) next st, (trc, dc) next st, 2 dc next 2 sts, hdc
