MATERIALS: Size 10 crochet threads in the following colors: Black, White, Green or Red and Pumpkin, size 7 crochet hook or hook needed to obtain gauge, needle to take crochet thread or craft glue, 1\2” white pom-pom (for ea hat) and stuffing (craft fiberfill).
FINISHED SIZE: 1-3\4” tall without hat, 2-1\2” with hat.
Gauge: 4 hdc = 1\2”, 3 rows = 1\2”
PENGUIN BODY:
With Black thread and 7 hook ch-3, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Ch-1, work 12 hdc in ring, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (12 sts)
RND 2-3: (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (18 sts)(27 sts)
RND 4: (2 hdc next st, hdc next 2 sts) around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (36 sts)
RND 5-11: Hdc ea st around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.
RND 12: (Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc next 2 sts) around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (27 sts)
Stuff body.
RND 13-15: (Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc next st) around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. End rnd 15 fasten off. (18 sts)(12 sts)(8 sts)
TUMMY:
With White and 7 hook rep rnd 1-4 of body, fasten off.
EYE (MAKE 2):
With Black and 7 hook ch-3, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Ch-1, work 8 hdc in ring, join White, fasten off Black, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.
ROW 2: Sc next 2 sts, hdc next, 3 dc next 2 sts, hdc next, sc last 2 sts, fasten off.
BEAK:
ROW 1: With Pumpkin and 7 hook ch-2, sc 2 nd ch from hook, ch-1, turn. (1 st)
ROW 2: 3 sc only st, ch-1, turn. (3 sts)
ROW 3: 2 sc next st, sc next st, 2 sc last st, ch-1, turn. (5 sts)
ROW 4: 2 sc next st, sc next 3 sts, 2 sc last st, ch-1, turn. (7 sts)
ROW 5: Sc ea st across, ch-1, turn.
