Free Crochet Pattern

MATERIALS:

4 ply yarn in Soft White and Claret, needle to take yarn, H hook or hook needed to obtain gauge, white fabric paint and small amount of cardboard (optional).

FINISHED SIZE: 5” X 14-1\4”

Gauge: 4 hdc sts = 1”, 3 rows hdc = 1”.

FRONT, BACK, SIDES (MAKE 4):

ROW 1: With White and h hook ch-52, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (50 sts)

ROW 2: Hdc ea st across, join Claret, fasten off White, ch-1, turn.

ROW 3: Hdc ea st across, join White, fasten off Claret, ch-1, turn.

ROW 4: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.

ROW 5-13: Rep row 2-4 in order for a total of 3 times.

ROW 14: Hdc ea st across, fasten off.

BOTTOM:

ROW 1: With Claret and H hook ch-22, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (20 sts)

ROW 2-14: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn. End row 14 fasten off.

Using bottom as a pattern, cut one of cardboard. With needle and yarn sew sides tog and bottom to bottom of bag. Place cardboard inside to help strengthen bottom.

TOPPER:

ROW 1: With Claret and h hook ch-8, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn. (6 sts)

ROW 2-8: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.

ROW 9: 2 hdc next st, hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn. (7 sts)

ROW 10: Hdc ea st across to last st, 2 hdc last st, ch-1, turn. (8 sts)

ROW 11-16: Rep row 9-10. End row 16 (14 sts)

ROW 17: Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn. (13 sts)

ROW 18: Hdc ea st across to last 2 sts, hdc dec last 2 sts, ch-1, turn. (12 sts)

ROW 19-24: Rep roe 17-18. End row 18 (6 sts)

ROW 25-40: hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.
