Patterns Written in US Terms

MATERIALS:
Red Heart 4ply yarn in Hunter Green (an 8 oz skein will make at least 3 trees), 45” (ea place mat) trim for garland, different shape and size sequins (I used lg circle and flower because their hole were at the top edge of the sequin), needle and dark thread, needle to take yarn, G crochet hook or hook needed to obtain gauge
FINISHED SIZE:  From largest points: 17” X 17 1\2”   Gauge:  7 sts = 2”, 4 rows = 2”

BOTTOM SECTION:
ROW 1:  With Hunter Green and G hook ch-61, dc 3rd ch from hook, dc ea ch across, ch-1, turn.  (59 sts)
 ROW 2-10: Dc dec next 2 sts, dc across to last 2 sts, dc dec last 2 sts, ch-1, turn.  At the end of row 10 fasten off.  (57 sts)(55 sts)(53 sts)(51 sts)(49 sts)(47 sts)(45 sts)(43 sts)(41 sts)

MIDDLE SECTION:
ROW 1: Ch-52, dc 3rd ch from hook, dc ea ch across, ch-1, turn.  (50 sts)
ROW 2-11: Dc dec next 2 sts, dc across to last 2 sts, dc dec last 2 sts, ch-1, turn.  At the end of row 11 fasten off.  (48 sts)(46 sts)(44 sts)(42 sts)(40 sts)(38 sts)(36 sts)(34 sts)(32 sts)(30 sts)

TOP SECTION:
ROW 1: Ch-40, dc 3rd ch from hook, dc ea ch across, ch-1, turn.  (38 sts)
ROW 2: (Dc dec next 2 sts) twice, dc to last 4 sts, (dc dec next 2 sts) twice, ch-1, turn.  (34 sts)
ROW 3: Dc dec next 2 sts, dc to last 2 sts, dc dec last 2 sts, ch-1, turn.  (32 sts)
ROW 4: Rep row 3.  (30 sts)
ROW 5: Rep row 2.  (26 sts)
ROW 6-7: Rep row 3.  (24 sts)(22 sts)
ROW 8: Rep row 2.  (18 sts)
ROW 9-10: Rep row 3.  (16 sts)(14 sts)
ROW 11: Rep row 2.  (10 sts)
 ROW 12-14: Rep row 3.  (8 sts)(6 sts)(4 sts)
ROW 15: (Dc dec next 2 sts), fasten off.  (2 sts) With needle and yarn sew the sections tog to form the tree.
With needle and thread sew sequins and trim to tree.
