Patterns Written in US Terms

MATERIALS:
Size 5 DMC Pearl Cotton Thread in White and color of your choice and size O (zero) crochet hook.  FINISHED SIZE: Body is 2” long.  Wing: 1” long and 1\2” wide at longest edge.  Dragon Fly” about 2” wide and 1” long.

DRAGON FLY BODY:
With color DMC and O hook ch-3, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Ch-1, work 6 hdc in ring, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.  (6 sts)
RND 2-9: Hdc ea st around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.
RND 10: (Hdc dec next 2 sts) around, sl st top beg hdc, fasten off.  (3 sts)

WING:
ROW 1: With white DMC and O hook ch-3, hdc 3rd ch from hook, ch-1, turn. (1 st)
ROW 2: 2 hdc only st, ch-1, turn.  (2 sts)
ROW 3: 2 hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.  (4 sts)
ROW 4-5: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.  End row 5 fasten off.

PUTTING IT TOGETHER:
Make 4 wings.  With needle and thread sew wings tog at row 1 in pairs of 2.  Sew two sets of 2 wings tog and sew body to wings.  Sew or glue (using a no-sew glue) to hat, shirt, purse, etc you would like to decorate.
