Patterns Written in US Terms
ROW 6-10: Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.  (16 sts)(15 sts)(14 sts)(13 sts)(12 sts)
ROW 11-12: Hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc ea st to last 2 sts, hdc dec last 2 sts, ch-1, turn.  End row 12 fasten off.  (10 sts)(8 sts)
-Make two
STOCKING OUTER EDGING:
ROW 1:  With both sides of the stocking tog, scarlet yarn and H hook, join in side of row 1 through both thickness’, ch-1, evenly sc around the outer edge of the sticking working through both thickness’, ch-3, turn.
ROW 2: 4 dc in sa st as previous ch-3, (sk 2 sts, sc next st, sk 2 sts, 5 dc next st) across ending: sk 2 sts, sc next st, sk 2 sts, (4 dc, ch-3, sl st) next st, fasten off.
STOCKING INNER EDGING:
 RND 1: With scarlet yarn and H hook join in any st on inside (top) edge of stocking, ch-1, sc sa st as beg ch-1, evenly sc ea st around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.
ROW 2 (HANGING TAB): Sc next 3 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, ch-1, turn.  (3 sts)
ROW 3-12: Sc ea st across, ch-1, turn.  End row 12 fasten off.
Sew row 12 row 2 to complete hanging tab.
POCKET (3-1\2” x 4-1\2”):
ROW 1: With scarlet yarn and H hook ch-16, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn.  (14 sts)
ROW 2-10: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.  End row 10 fasten off.
-Make 2 pockets and sew to front of stocking.
SWIRL:
Ch-20 with yarn and H hook, fasten off.
Make 3 in celery and 3 in scarlet.  With needle and thread sew to stocking curling the ch length as you sew.
