Patterns Written in US Terms

MATERIALS:
Bernat Boa yarn 1 skein ea in Parrot and Doo Doo Bird, 2 sm snaps, 2 lg snaps, 2 decorative buttons, F hook or hook to obtain gauge and needle to take yarn.
GAUGE: 3 hdc = 1”, 3 rows hdc = 1-1\2”
FINISHED SIZE: Belt: 1-1\4” X 30” Pouch 3-3\4” X 5-1\2”
BELT:
Beg by dividing parrot yarn into two equal and separate balls.
ROW 1: With Parrot and F hook ch-6, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn.  (4 sts)
ROW 2: Hdc next st, join Doo Doo Bird, drop parrot, hdc next 2 sts, join second ball parrot, drop doo doo, hdc last st, ch-1, turn.
ROW 3: Hdc next st, pick up doo doo, drop parrot, hdc next 2 sts, pick up parrot, drop doo doo, hdc last st, ch-1, turn.
Rep row 3 until piece measures 30”.
When piece is 30” long, fasten off all but last parrot you worked, ch-1, turn, hdc ea st across, fasten off.
Sew decorative button to one end and sew one lg snap as closure.
POUCH:
Beg by dividing remaining doo doo bird yarn into two equal and separate balls of yarn
ROW 1: With doo doo and F hook ch-20, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn.  (18 sts)
ROW 2: Hdc next 3 sts, join parrot, drop doo doo, hdc next 12 sts, join second doo doo yarn, drop parrot, hdc last 3 sts, ch-1, turn.
ROW 3: Hdc next 3 sts, pick up parrot, drop doo doo, hdc next 12 sts, pick up doo doo, drop parrot, hdc last 3 sts, ch-1, turn.
Rep row 3 until piece measures 8-1\2”.
When piece measures 8-1\2”, fasten off parrot and one doo doo.  With remaining doo doo ch-1, turn, hdc ea st across, fasten off.
Fold up 3” on pouch and sew at ea side.  Sew last button to center front and last lg snap to center for closure.
POUCH STRAPS:
 ROW 1: With Doo Doo Bird and F hook ch-4, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc last ch, ch-1, turn.  (2 sts)
ROW 2-20: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.  At the end of row 20 fasten off.
- make 2- Sew one end of ea strap to center back of pouch.  Sew small snaps to ends.  Place pouch in desired position on the belt, using pouch’s strap, fasten in place.
