Patterns Written in US Terms

Materials:
2-3 oz worsted weight yarn in Coffee, Buff, Black and White, H hook or hook needed to obtain gauge, needle to take yarn, some foam board, craft knife and craft glue.
GAUGE: 4 (sc, dc) sts = 1”, 4 rows of pattern = 1”
FINISHED SIZE:  about 9” in diameter

HEAD:
 With Coffee yarn and H hook ch-4, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Ch-1, work (sc, dc) 5 times in ring, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.  (10 sts)
RND 2: (Sc, dc) ea st around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.  (20 sts)
RND 3: * sc next dc, dc next sc, (sc, dc) next 2 sts, * rep bet ** around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.  (30 sts)
RND 4: * (sc next dc, dc next sc) twice, (sc, dc) next 2 sts, * rep bet ** around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.  (40 sts)
RND 5: (Sc next dc, dc next sc) around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.
RND 6: * (sc next dc, dc next sc) 3 times, (sc, dc) next 2 sts, * rep bet ** around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn. (50sts)
RND 7: * (sc next dc, dc next sc) 4 times, (sc, dc) next 2 sts, * rep bet ** around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn. (60sts)
RND 8: Rep rnd 5.
RND 9: Rep rnd 4.  (80 sts)
RND 10: Rep rnd 5.
RND 11: Rep rnd 6.  (100 sts)
RND 12-13: Rep rnd 5.
RND 14:  Rep rnd 7.  (120 sts)
RND 15-16: Rep rnd 5.
RND 17: Rep rnd 7.  (144 sts)
RND 18-21: Rep rnd 5.  At the end of rnd 21 fasten off.

MOUTH:
RND 1: With buff and H hook ch-21, sc 2nd ch from hook, (dc next ch, sc next ch) 8 times, dc next ch, (sc, dc) last 2 ch, turn piece so you are now working across the bottom of the foundation row, (sc, dc) next ch, (sc next ch, dc next
