MATERIALS:

Left-over bits of 4 ply yarn in white, black and any color you have on hand I used Royal, Deft Blue and Light Blue, H crochet hook or hook needed to obtain gauge, needle to take yarn, small amount of blush, a cotton swab and black and orange fabric paint.

FINISHED SIZE: 4” X 5” Gauge: 3 sc = 1”, 4 rows sc = 1”

STAR:

With yarn and H hook ch-3, sl st to form a ring.

RND 1: Ch-1, work 6 sc in ring, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn. (6 sts)

RND 2: 2 sc ea st around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn. (12 sts)

RND 3: (2 sc next sc, sc next 2 sts) around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn. (16 sts)

RND 4: (2 sc next st, sc next 3 sts) around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn. (20 sts)

RND 5: (2 sc next st, sc next 4 sts) around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, fasten off. (25 sts)

FIRST STAR POINT:

ROW 1: With yarn and H hook join in any st, ch-1, sc sa st as ch-1, sc next 4 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, ch-1, turn. (5 sts)

ROW 2-5: Sk next st, sc ea st across, ch-1, turn. (4 sts)(3 sts)(2 sts)(1 st)

ROW 6: Sc st, fasten off.

NEXT STAR POINT:

ROW 1: With yarn and H hook join in next st last worked previous point, ch-1, sc sa st as ch-1, sc next 4 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, ch-1, turn. (5 sts)

ROW 2-6: Rep row 2-6 of first star point.

Rep next star point 3 more times.

SNOWMAN HEAD:

With white yarn and H hook rep rnd 1-3 of star, fasten off.

HAT:

ROW 1: With black yarn and H hook ch-9, sc 2nd ch from hook, sc ea ch across, fasten off. (8 sts)

ROW 2: Count over 2 sts from end row 1, join black that st, ch-1, sc sa st as ch-1, sc next 3 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, ch-1, turn. (4 sts)

ROW 3: Sc ea st across, fasten off.

PUTTING IT TOGETHER:

Sew head to star using the photo as a guide. Sew hat to top of snowman’s head. With the fabric paint make eyes, a nose and mouth. Using the cotton swab get a bit of the blush and place on face at cheeks. Cut 6” of yarn and string through top point of star and knot for the hanger.
