Patterns Written in US Terms

MATERIALS:
Size 10 crochet thread in Maze, size E brown /yellow mix glass beads (about 220), size 7 crochet hook or hook to obtain gauge, Lion Bran Suede yarn in Coffee, invisible (clear) sewing thread, needle to take sewing thread, large eye beading needle and necklace clasp.
GAUGE: 4 sc sts = 1\2”, 9 rows sc = 1”, ea beaded cluster 3\4” across
FINISHED SIZE: 18” long
BEADED CLUSTER:
With large eye beading needle thread 20 beads onto Maize crochet thread, remove beading needle, with 7 hook ch-4, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Ch-1, work (slide bead, sc) 8 times in ring, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.  (8 sts)
RND 2: (2 sc next st, sc next st) around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.  (12 sts)
RND 3: (Slide bead, sc next st) 12 times, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.
RND 4: (2 sc next st, sc next 2 sts) around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.  (16 sts)
ROW 5: Sc next 3 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, ch-1, turn.  (3 sts)
ROW 6-14: Sc ea st across, ch-1, turn.  End row 14 fasten off. -make 16
BELL CAPS FOR NECKLACE ENDS (MAKE TWO):
With Maize thread and 7 hook ch-3, sl st to form a ring, ch-1, turn.
RND 1: Ch-1, work 8 sc in ring, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.  (8 sts)
RND 2: (2 sc next st, sc next st) around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.  (12 sts)
RND 3-10: Sc ea st around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.  End rnd 10 fasten off.
PUTTING NECKLACE TOGETHER:
Cut four 12” lengths of Coffee suede.  With needle and invisible thread sew four finished beaded tabs around ea length of suede staggering placement.  Knot end tog.  With needle and invisible thread secure to knot, using thread pull knot up into one bell cap until knots are covered by the bell cap, sew in place.  Rep for other end. Thread remaining beads onto Maize crochet thread, remove beading needle.  With 7 hook join in end one bell cap, ch-1, (slide bead, ch-1) 18 times, fasten off leaving a long tail.  Rep twice on both sides.  Place necklace claps on ends of necklace using left over tails to secure it.
