PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER:
Lay the body of the afghan on a large flat surface so that you have access to the entire piece.  Begin by laying out the “hair” pieces so that they are half on the afghan and half over its outer edge.  Sew in place.  Long quilting pins work well to hold the extra thick crochet “hair” in place as you sew them.  Of you could use one line of glue down the “hair” center and glue it in place.  Once dry you can easily sew ea section in place.  (Please note: it is meant to be a child’s afghan so it is important – if using the glue method- to sew ea section securely in place.)
I had originally planned to may two layers of “hair” on my lion but felt that would make the afghan too costly for most people to make.  If you would like to add the second layer you will need 3 more skeins of Pink Lemonade and make additional 30 sections of hair.  Merely place on top the previously sewn “hair” to cover gaps in-between and sew in place.
Sew eyes and nose to lion’s face.
With Pink yarn and J hook ch-50, fasten off.  This will form the lion’s mouth.  Using the picture as a guide lay out under nose and sew in place pulling the tails of the ch to wrong side of afghan.
