Patterns Written in US Terms
Materials: Small amount of Red Heart TLC Amore yarn in White and Red Velvet, H crochet hook, One 3-1\2” tall paper mache box with lid, Craft glue, 2 Silver chenille stems
Finished Size:  3-1\2” tall and 3” across lid
Gauge:   4 sc = 1”, 4 rows sc = 1”
Lid To Covered Box:
With Red and H hook ch-3, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Ch-1, work 8 sc in ring, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.  (8 sts)
RND 2-4: (2 sc next st, sc next st) around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.  (12 sts)(18 sts)(27 sts)
RND 5-7: Sc ea st around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.  End rnd 7 fasten off.
Peppermint:
Carry unused yarns behind sts as you work.
With white yarn and H hook ch-4, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Ch-1, sc in ring, join red, drop white, sc in ring, (drop red, pick up white, sc in ring, drop white, pick up red, sc in ring) 3 times, sl st top beg sc, fasten off.  (8 sts)
Make one “peppermint” and sew it to center of top of lid.  Glue crochet lid cover to lid of box.
Side For Box:
ROW 1: With Bouclé and H hook ch-9, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn.  (7 sts)
ROW 2: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.
Rep row 2 until piece fits around bottom of the box.  Sew short ends tog, slide over bottom of box gluing to hold.
Putting The Box Together:
Make 6 “peppermints”.  Twist ends of 2 silver chenille stems together to make one long silver stem.  Begin by fan folding the stem in 1-1\2” intervals.  Stretch this out so that it will fit around the bottom of the box.  Glue in place.  Glue peppermints to box.
