MATERIALS FOR ALL PROJECTS:
1 skein each color Bernat Baby Softee yarn in Baby Yellow, Pastel Green, Baby Blue, Baby Pink and lavender, 2 skeins white, needle to take yarn, size F hook and small amount of cardboard.
GAUGE: 5 dc sts = 1”, 4 rows dc = 1”, full block = 2-1\2” square, smaller block (for doll’s hat)= 2” square
FINISHED SIZE: Doll Hat will fit 18” American Girl doll or look alike doll. Child’s hat: 20” in diameter. Doll Carrier Tote: 16” wide X 13” tall.
HEART BLOCK:
ROW 1: With yarn and F hook, ch-2, sc 2 nd ch from hook, ch-1, turn.(1 st)
ROW 2: 2 sc next st, ch-1, turn. (2 sts)
ROW 3: 2 sc next 2 sts, ch-1, turn. (4 sts)
ROW 4: 2 sc next st, sc next 2 sts, 2 sc next st, ch-1, turn. (6 sts)
ROW 5: Sk 1st st, work 5 dc next st, sl st next 2 sts, work 5 dc next st, sl st last st, fasten off.
BLOCK EDGING:
RND 1: With white yarn and E hook join in bottom pt of heart, ch-1, 2 sc next row, hdc next 2, (2 trc, ch-2, 2 trc) next, hdc next 2, 2 sc next, sc next, (2 hdc, ch-2, 2 hdc) next sk next, sc next 3, sk next 2, work 1 trc bet next 2, sk next 3, sc next 3, (2 hdc, ch-2, 2 hdc) next, sk next, 2 sc next, sc next, hdc next 2, (2 trc, ch-2, 2 trc) next, hdc next 2, sc next 2, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn. (43 sts)
RND 2: Hdc ea st around, working (2 hdc, ch-1, 2 hdc) in ea ch-2 sp, sl st top beg hdc, fasten off.
-Make 35 blocks; 7 with ea color heart.
DOLL’S HAT BLOCKS:
Rep 1-5 of heart. Rep rnd 1 on edging, fasten off.
