4ply yarn in Black and White, H hook or hook to obtain gauge, small amount of cardboard, needle to take yarn and a pair of round black wood purse handles.
GAUGE: 4 sts (sc, dc) = 1”, 4 rows pattern = 1”
FINISHED SIZE: 10-1\2” X 12” without handles
PURSE:
RND 1: With black yarn and H hook ch-13, hdc 2nd ch from hook, hdc next 10 ch, 2 hdc last ch, turn piece so you are now working across the bottom of the foundation row, hdc ea ch across, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.  (24 sts)
RND 2: 2 hdc next 2 sts, hdc next 9 sts, 2 hdc next 3 sts, hdc next 9 sts, 2 hdc next st, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.  (30 sts)
RND 3: 2 hdc next 2 sts, hdc next 11 sts, 2 hdc next 4 sts, hdc next 11 sts, 2 hdc next st, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.  (38 sts)
RND 4: (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) twice, hdc next 11 sts, rep bet () 4 times, hdc next 10 sts, rep bet () twice, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.  (46 sts)
RND 5: (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) twice, hdc next 14 sts, rep bet () 5 times, hdc next 12 sts, rep bet () 3 times, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn.  (56 sts)
RND 6: (2 hdc next st, hdc next 2 sts) twice, 2 hdc next st, hdc next 15 sts, rep bet () 4 times, 2 hdc next st, hdc next 15 sts, rep bet () twice, sl st top beg hdc, fasten off.  (66 sts)
RND 7: Count over 18 sts from join, join black yarn that st, ch-1, sc sa st as beg ch-1, dc next st, (sc next st, dc next st) 15 times, drop black, join white, rep bet () 16 times, (sc, dc) last st, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.  (68 sts)
 RND 8: (Sc next dc, dc next sc) around picking up and dropping colors as established.
RND 9-11: Rep rnd 8.
RND 12: [(Sc next dc, dc next sc) 5 times, (sc, dc) next 2 sts, * (sc next dc, dc next sc) twice, (sc, dc) next 2 sts, * rep bet ** 3 times, (sc next dc, dc next sc) 5 times], drop white, pick up black, rep bet [], sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.  (84 sts)
RND 13-21: Rep rnd 8.  At the end of rnd 21 fasten off both yarns.
