Here is the finished stitch. Note the loose ends of the color yarn

Here is an example where the yarns are left free (upper left), knotted (upper right) and trimmed (center bottom)

When you are working the pop corn stitch some will be facing the front of your work and some toward the back

Simply push the pop corn stitch to the back to the front of your piece and knot accordingly.
