RND 2: Sc next 3 sts, hdc next 14, sc last 4 sts, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.
RND 3: Sc next 4 sts, hdc next 2, (hdc dec next 2 sts, hdc next st) 4 times, sc last 3 sts, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn. (17 sts)
RND 4: Sc next 3 sts, (Hdc dec next 2 sts) 5 times, sc last 4 sts, sl st top beg sc, fasten off. (12 sts)

Appliqué For Top:
RND 1: With Green and H hook ch-2, work 8 hdc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (8 sts)
ROW 2: Sc next st, 2 sc next st, leave remaining sts unworked. You are now working in rows. (3 sts)
ROW 3: 2 sc 1st st, sc last 2 sts, ch-1, turn. (4 sts)
ROW 4-9: Sc ea st across, ch-1, turn.
ROW 10: (Sk next st, sc next st) twice, ch-1, turn. (2 sts)
ROW 11: Sk 1st st, sc last st, fasten off. (1 st)
Color Dots For Appliqué:
With yarn and H hook rep rnd 1 of appliqué, fasten off.
-Make 1 of Royal Blue, 1 of Delft and 1 of Light Blue.
Sew ea color dot to back of caterpillar appliqué. Glue the 1/8” red pom-pom to its face for its nose. With Black crochet thread and needle make a French knot for its eye. Cut a Red and Yellow chenille stem to 4”. Twist tog and fold in half. Carefully wind ea end around something small to coil. Glue 1/8” Yellow pom-pom to ea end of antenna. Glue antenna to back of head. Sew appliqué to front of top.
Caterpillar Toy:
With Green and H hook ch-3, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Ch-1, work 10 sc in ring, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn. (10 sts)
RND 2: (2 sc next st, sc next st) around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn. (15 sts)
RND 3-7: Sc ea st around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.
RND 8: Sc 1st st, (sk next st, sc next st) around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn. (8 sts)
RND 9: Sc ea st around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn.
RND 10: 2 sc ea st around, sl st top beg sc, ch-1, turn. (16 sts)
RND 11-22: Hdc ea st around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. End rnd 22 fasten off.
