PLEATS:
At this point you will be making the pleats before continuing on with the dress’ bodice. At end row 35 it should measure 43” across. Once pleats are made it should measure 22”.
Working right to left and with right side facing you, make the 1st pleat measure in 1-1\2” from short edge mark with at pin. Measure 1\2” from last pin and pin at this point. Bring the 2 pins tog so that the 1\2” is to the back of the piece. Lay this 1\2” toward the right side and hold with a pin. Remove 1st 2 pins. Measure in 1\2” from this pleat (moving to the left), fold to the back of work and lay toward the left side and pin to hold. This is a box pleat.
Measure in 1-1\2” from last pleat and repeat. There will be a total of 6 pleats.
