THIRD SECTION:

ROW 2-4: 2 sc 1st st, sc across to last st, 2 sc last st, ch-1, turn. (11 sts)(13 sts)(15 sts)
ROW 5: Sc ea st across, fasten off.
With needle and glitterspun work a buttonhole st long the outer edges of the top tree section. Along the 2nd and 3rd section work the buttonhole st along the sides and bottom of pieces. With thread, sew the tree sections together. Sew the completed tree to the center of the pillow front. Sew the back section to the front section leaving the triangle edging free and stuff.
RUG:
ROW 1: With Scarlet yarn and H hook ch-73, sc 2nd ch from hook, sc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (72 sts)
ROW 2-5: Sc ea st across, ch-1, turn.
ROW 6: Sc ea st across, join Ecru, ch-1, turn, fasten off Scarlet.
ROW 7-17: Sc ea st across, ch-1, turn.
ROW 18: Sc ea st across, join Scarlet, ch-1, turn, fasten off Ecru.
ROW 19: Sc ea st across.
Rep row 2-19 4 more times.
Then rep 2-5 and fasten off.
TRIANGLE EDGING:
Triangle color sequence is Teal, Olive, Scarlet, Sage and Ecru.
FIRST TRIANGLE:
ROW 1: With Teal and H hook join in last st last row of rug, ch-1, sc same st as ch-1, sc next 5 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, ch-1, turn. (6 sts)
ROW 2-6: Sk next st, sc ea st across, ch-1, turn. At the end of row 6 fasten off. (5 sts)(4 sts)(3 sts)(2 sts)(1 st)
NEXT TRIANGLE:
ROW 1: With next yarn in color sequence, join next st after last completed triangle, ch-1, sc same st as ch-1, sc next 5 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, ch-1, turn. (6 sts)
ROW 2-6: Rep as you did for 1st triangle.
With needle and glitter spun yarn work a buttonhole st around the outer edge of rug. Also work a diagonal st across the center 4 rows in ea Ecru strip. Make 12 trees just like you did for the pillow. With needle and thread sew the trees along the rug’s stripe edge: 2 ea short side and 4 ea long side.
