-Make 2.
STRAP AND SIDE GUSSET:
ROW 1: With Navy and H hook ch-7, hdc 3 rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (5 sts)
ROW 2-141: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn. End row 141 fasten off.
Sew short ends tog to form a large lp. Beginning at the end row 34 of one heart, sew long edge of lp around edge of heart ending at end row 45. Rep with other heart.
CENTER OPENING GUSSETS:
ROW 1: With Navy and H hook ch-6, hdc 3 rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (4 sts)
ROW 2-38: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn. End row 38 fasten off.
Make two. Sew long edge of one gusset to remaining free edge of one heart. Rep with other gusset and heart overlapping ends of gusset and sewing where it meets strap.
STAR:
With Cornmeal yarn and H hook ch-4, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Ch-2 (does not count as a st) work 15 dc in ring, sl st top beg hdc, ch-2, turn. (15 sts)
ROW 2: Dc next 3 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, ch-2, turn. (3 sts)
ROW 3: Dc dec next 2 sts, dc last st, ch-2, turn. (2 sts)
ROW 4: Dc dec next 2 sts, ch-2, turn. (1 st)
ROW 5: Dc only st, fasten off.
NEXT POINT OF STAR (FINISHED SIZE: 5”):
ROW 1: With Cornmeal and H hook join in next free st rnd 1, ch-2, dc sa st as beg ch-2, dc next 2 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, ch-2, turn. (3 sts)
ROW 2: Dc dec next 2 sts, dc next st, ch-2, turn. (2 sts)
ROW 3: Dc dec next 2 sts, ch-2, turn. (1 st)
ROW 4: Dc only st, fasten off.
Rep next point until all five points of the star are made.
Make 2 stars and sew to the blue section on ea side of the tote.
