Patterns Written In US Terms

MATERIALS:
One 8 oz skein Red Heart 4 ply yarn in White, Bernat Soft Boucle in The Big Blue, DMC size 5 pearl cotton in White (Blanc), Dark Brown (3371) and Dusty Pink (3687), needle to take yarn, needle to take DMC pearl cotton, needle and thread, two Jr. size metal Slinky, wire cutters, size H and 6 hooks or hooks needed for gauge and stuffing.
GAUGE: Red Heart & Boucle: 7 hdc = 2”, 4 rows hdc = 1”, 8 rows pattern = 1”.  DMC: 4 hdc = 1\2”, 3 rows hdc = 1\2”
FINISHED SIZE:  about ” tall not including arms or legs.
TOP OF MONKEY:
With White and H hook ch-4, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Ch-1, Work 12 hdc in ring, sl st top beg hdc, turn.  (12 sts)
RND 2: (Ch-12, sl st next 2 sts) around, turn.  (6 lps)
RND 3: Press lps to bk of piece, (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) around, sl st top beg hdc, turn.  (18 sts)
RND 4: Rep rnd 2.  (9 lps)
RND 5: Rep rnd 3.  (27 sts)
RND 6: Ch-12, sl st next st, (ch-12, sl st next 2 sts) around, turn.  (14 lps)
RND 7: Press lps to bk of piece (2 hdc next st, hdc next 2 sts) around, sl st top beg hdc, turn.  (36 sts)
RND 8: Rep rnd 2.
RND 9: Press lps to bk of piece (2 hdc next st, hdc next 3 sts) around, sl st top beg
