Patterns Written In US Terms
ROW 13-15: Sc ea dc, dc ea sc across, ch-1, turn. At the end of row 15 fasten off.
ROW 16: Join jade thread at the other end of row 11, (sc next st, dc, next st) twice, ch-1, turn. (4 sts)
ROW 17-19: Sc ea dc, dc ea sc across, ch-1, turn. At the end of row 19 fasten off.
Sew the two fronts to the back at rows 11-16 of fronts and rows 1-7 of back. Sew fronts to backs at shoulders.
VEST RUFFLE:
ROW 1: With vest up-side-down and right sides facing join Jade thread at end, ch-1, (sc, dc) in ea st across, ch-1, turn.
ROW 2: Sc ea dc, dc ea sc across, ch-1, turn.
ROW 3: Sl st next 12 sts, ch-1, sc ea dc, dc ea sc across to last 12 sts, ch-1, turn.
ROW 4-10: *Sk next st, sc next st, dc dec next 2 sts*, sc ea dc, dc ea sc across to last 4 sts, rep between * *, ch-1, turn. At the end of row 10 fasten off.
Embroider maize and sunset rose along bottom edge of vest ruffle. With a seed st come back and add leaves using parrot green.
VEST RIBBON:
ROW 1: With Jade thread and 7 hook ch-5, sc 2nd ch from hook, dc next, sc next, dc next, ch-1, turn. (4 sts)
ROW 2: Sc in dc, dc in sc across, ch-1, turn.
Rep row 2 until ribbon measures 12", fasten off. Make two. Sew in loops underneath the vest front and at the center top of vest ruffle.
Rep rows 1-2 of ribbon until ribbon measures 29", fasten off.
To make Bow, take needle and Jade thread and sew a basting st across ribbon as follows: Leave a 4" tail of ribbon. Holding ribbon at the 4" mark, loop remaining ribbon over so a 1" loop is formed. Place sides of loop side by side and sew across the base of these ribbons at the 4" mark for the tail. Continue in this manner making 1" loops and basting across their base until 8 loops are formed. (Please note; the remaining tail will not be 4", but 3" long.) Pull basting thread tightly until all the loops come together into a bow. Tack base of bow together. Tack formed bow to the center top of the train, 3rd row of red dc crochet down. Arrange the loops and tails of the bow across the top of the vest's ruffle being careful to cover looped ribbon ends.
