RND 2: (Ch-8, sl st next st) around, ch-1, turn. (12 lps made)

RND 3: Press lps to bk of piece, (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) around, sl st top beg hdc, fasten off. (18 sts)

-make 2.

NOSE:

ROW 1: With Black thread and 7 hook ch-4, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc last ch, ch-1, turn. (2 sts)

ROW 2: 2 hdc next 2 sts, ch-1, turn. (4 sts)

ROW 3-5: 2 hdc next st, hdc ea st across to last st, 2 hdc last st, ch-1, turn. (6 sts)(8 sts)(10 sts)

ROW 6: Hdc ea st across, fasten off.

-make 2. Sew tog, stuffing as you sew.

TONGUE:

ROW 1: With Red thread and 7 hook ch-6, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (4 sts)

ROW 2-3: 2 hdc next st, hdc ea st across to last st, 2 hdc last st, ch-1, turn. (6 sts)(8 sts)

ROW 4-8: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn. End row 8 fasten off.

EYE:

ROW 1: With Black thread and 7 hook ch-4, sc 2nd ch from hook, sc next ch, 4 dc last ch, turn piece so you are now working across the bottom of the foundation ch (in bottom of sts just made), sc last 2, join White, fasten off Black, ch-1, turn. (8 sts)

ROW 2: Sc next 3 sts, 3 dc next 2, sc last 3 sts, ch-1, turn. (12 sts)

ROW 3: Sc next 3 sts, 2 dc next 6, sc last 3 sts, fasten off. (18 sts)

-make 2.

PUTTING THE HEAD TOGETHER:

With needle and matching thread sew eyes and nose to dog’s face. With a pair of scissors cut 8 rings off of last 2 springs. Set the smaller pieces aside. Twist the cut end of ea larger spring into side on dog’s head to form the ears. Twist the cut end of ea of the smaller springs into dog’s face to form the dog’s muzzle (under his nose). Sew or glue tongue into place. Glue crochet muzzles onto top of spring muzzles. Stuff head and sew bottom close. Glue head to dog’s body.
