Patterns Written In US Terms

MATERIALS: Red Heart 4 ply yarn in the following colors: Brown, Black, White, Light Blue, Heather Gray and Shaded Dusk (a blue mix), size H crochet hook or hook to obtain gauge, needle to take yarn, stuffing, gray fabric paint, 18 size 1\4” clear plastic snaps, invisible (clear) sewing thread, sewing needle, craft glue, small amount of yellow & black felt, 5 junior size metal Slinkys and wire cutters.
GAUGE: 4 hdc sts = 1”, 5 rows hdc = 2”
FINISHED SIZE: 24” tall without Slinkys.
EYE (TOP):
With White and H hook ch-3, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Ch-1, work 12 hdc in ring, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (12 sts)
RND 2: (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. (18 sts)
RND 3-4: Hdc ea st around, sl st top beg hdc, ch-1, turn. End rnd 4 fasten off. -make 2.
EYE BACK:
With White and H hook rep rnd 1-2 of eye, fasten off. -make 2.
PUPIL:
ROW 1: With Black and H hook ch-5, sc 2nd ch from hook, sc next 2 ch, 3 hdc last ch, turn piece so you are now working across the bottom of the foundation ch (in bottom of sts just made), sc last 3, ch-1, turn. (9 sts)
ROW 2: Sl st next 3 sts, 2 hdc next 3 sts, sl st last 3 sts, fasten off. (6 sts & 6 sl sts)
-make 2. With needle and yarn sew one pupil to ea eye.
BODY:
With Brown and H hook ch-3, sl st to form a ring.
RND 1: Ch-1, work 12 hdc in ring, sl st top beg hdc, turn. (12 sts)
RND 2: (Ch-5, sl st next st, ch-10, sl st next st) around, ch-1, turn.
RND 3: Press lps to bk of piece, (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) around, sl st top beg hdc, turn. (18 sts)
RND 4: Rep rnd 2.
RND 5: Rep rnd 3. (27 sts)
RND 6: Rep rnd 2.
RND 7: Press lps to bk of piece, Hdc next st, (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) around, sl st top beg hdc, turn. (40 sts)
RND 8: Rep rnd 2.
RND 9: Hdc ea st around, sl st top beg hdc, turn.
